Susan Miller
My journey as an artist began as sketching horses and my dog, Finnegan. As the years passed, I branched out to watercolor originals, sculpting with clay, murals and painting whimsy for children’s books. A memorable commission, among many, was “The Women’s Pavilion – Four Seasons of a Woman’s Life.” Plus I got to play Michael Angelo painting angels on a domed ceiling.
My entrance to the art world began with Obscura Gallery in Portland, OR. They juried and accepted my work for a one month showing. Since then, I have participated in many art shows, won numerous awards, and shown in many galleries over the years.
My most valued education came from Arthur Miller’s sculpture and drawing classes at Lower Columbia College where he emphasized developing ones’ own style. I also took a one year design course from Mrs. Miller which I consider to be the most valuable in executing my watercolor originals and sculptures.
The tapestry of my journey is to bring a smile and/or touch one’s heart. My true gift I accredit to God for my visions and ideas.
