Jeremy Furnish- Mixed Media and Sculptures
I began my creative stride as a child, coloring outside the lines and
finger painting the dog. I’ve since then had the opportunity to work through
a diverse range of mediums and continue to dream just beyond my reach.
Over the years, I’ve learned to become resourceful, to respect the quality of
my environment, to reconsider waste, and eventually opened my eyes to
the profound ways of consumer America.
This body of work was created during the Coastal Oregon Artists
Residency (C.O.A.R), which was made possible through the partnership
between Astoria Visual Arts (A.V.A.) and Recology Western Oregon.
Selected artists are given salvage rights to the Astoria Transfer Station, a
studio space, stipend, and 4 months to create art from salvaged materials.
These works are meant to inspire others to rethink our consumer addiction,
our own waste, and how it may relate to our environment around us.
