This month we celebrate the work of our student artists in our annual Student Art Exhibit, along with the work of Susy Halverson, who teaches many of our student artists!
Please join us for a First Thursday celebration this month to meet the artists and listen to the music of local musician Dennis Harris!
It’s on June 6 from 5:30 to 7:30, in our gallery on Commerce Avenue in downtown Longview.
You never know how art instruction will influence a person’s life. Across history famous artists started their art careers with art classes.
- Early on John Singer Sargent’s mother gave him sketchbooks and encouraged drawing excursions, and later enrolled him in art classes.
- By age 10, Georgia O’Keeffe had decided to become an artist and took art instructions from a watercolorist.
- From the age of seven, Pabo Picasso received formal artistic training from his father in figure drawing and oil painting.
