As artists, we should pursue the art form that expresses our passions. While my own style might be called photo realism, I admire artists who render their work in looser styles. My subjects often include people who are engaged in simple pleasures. I also paint landscapes, seascapes, animals, and florals. Exercising the need to explore and feel challenged is vital to the growth of each artist.
Too often we think of happiness as involving money-driven gains, yet, there is boundless beauty and excitement in every day. I hope you enjoy your journey through the simple pleasures I am sharing through this show.

I am so excited because this will be my first show. It gives me an opportunity to meet with new people and other artists.
I began working with gourds almost 30 years ago when I went to a family farm to buy a Christmas tree in Folsom, California. I saw this huge bin of them, bought a few and then thought, “What the heck am I going to make out of these?” My very first one was a pen & ink drawing for my son and it brought tears to my eyes, so I was off and running.
Through the years, I have looked at one or another of the gourds in all different shapes and sizes and a vision would form in my head. I would see a base for one and that would give me another idea of what I could do with them. All have been very different, and made from my heart and crazy brain. Please enjoy.
