Debra Chase- Painting
Art is a joyful, spiritual and in-the-moment process for me. Nature is a huge inspiration for these interactions. I focus on the language of Art whenever I am engaged in the artistic process. Composition, color, line and shape have been the
primary focus of these recent still-life paintings, which were painted in the studio. I timed myself to focus paint for about an hour on most of them in order to remain not over paint or get too detailed. Less is better.
I believe that Art enhances the quality of peoples’ lives.
I graduated from the University of Washington School of Art, with an emphasis on
Drawing, Painting, and Art History. I feel fortunate to have studied with the late
artists Jacob Lawrence (Cubist and African American historical painter), Michael
Dailey (Abstract painter known as a second generation “Northwest Mystic” after
Mark Tobey) and Alden Mason, Abstract Painter.
Additionally, I received a MAT from Lewis & Clark College with an emphasis on
Fine Arts and I have been a teacher/artist for 25 years. In retirement I continue to
seek out new art experiences and to challenge myself to a place beyond my
comfort zone.
Mary Kohlschmidt- Jewelry Design
“Jewelry is the exclamation point to your outfit! Wear the design which sets you apart from the rest.”
Wearing my handcrafted bead and metalwork jewelry will set you apart from the rest as it is truly artistic and beautiful wearable art. I love creating jewelry which is original and distinct. In order to bring you the best unique designs, I cut, shape and hammer my designer copper jewelry and create my beaded designs with my thought and concern for its uniqueness.
I spend hours lost in time designing and handcrafting my jewelry. It is always striking and artful and is a long wearable.
I hope you will enjoy your purchases as much as I enjoy the finished product…and…the customers like you who wear my original designs.
