George Discant – Wood Carver

George Discant

George Discant

I started wood carving at around 50 yrs old. l took lessons from a guy named Jeff Harness for a couple of years and also read a bunch of books about woodcarving. I just carved and carved as much as I could.

l am a two-time cancer survivor. Besides carving, I worked in the dental field creating wax impressions for 40 yrs and made dentures from start to finish. I hope you will find the characters I carve interesting and whimsical. They reflect the surroundings of the place where I found them.  George is a resident of Rainier, OR.
