Sandra Yorke- Watercolor

portrait of artist

Sandra Yorke

This collection of paintings are watercolor scenes from my travels both near and far. I like to capture a sense of place in my paintings, not just a realistic depiction. This usually involves a feeling or mood that I feel when I am there and what inspires me most about painting a certain scene. Combining remembered details with emotional responses, I start with a loose watercolor sketch in my mind as I put it on the paper. Using color, value and edges (soft and hard) I paint the washes loosely at first and add more detail later. Color, atmosphere, time of day, the season all contribute to the mood of the painting. I know some people feel watercolor is a difficult medium but to me this is what makes it unique and allows me to express feelings while capturing an image I want to preserve.

I don’t always put the location in my painting titles, unless it’s a well known landmark or location. Sometimes I think it’s nice for the viewer to be drawn into a painting because it reminds them of a certain time or place in their life and they feel a strong connection to the image.

I hope you enjoy the journey through these paintings and perhaps they have added joy to your day.

Brenda Duby – Fiber Art

Brenda Duby

Wearable Art

I started sewing when I was eleven years old. I wanted my clothes to be different from the other girls.
Basically I started designing to be original and have continued to be creative throughout my life.

This recent group of original clothing can be used in a variety of ways, from a bathing suit cover or over jeans or a dress.

I consider it “One & Done” dressing and they are great for travel too.

I use designer fabrics so each kaftan is one of a kind and the pattern is my own creation.
